Job Title:
Designer - Simpy Vera, Vera Wang
Primary Responsibilities:
· Sets and directs seasonal color palettes and color flow.
· Fully responsible for entire product design process to include color, print, fabric & trim research, concept board creation, sketching, and fit as pertains to styling.
· Responsible for researching global markets in order to identify new trends, fabrics, techniques, etc.
· Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e. sells ideas / concepts and convinces others to adopt course of action).
· Interprets seasonal direction appropriate to brand position.
· Provides insight regarding style and fit of product during presentation.
· Ensures that product “chase” is recommended/executed consistent with market trends as well as business results in-season.
· Actively and collaboratively oversees brand clarity and parity to ensure consistency of brands across businesses.
· Approves color ways on stripes, plaids and prints.
· Responsible for fabric and trim selection and specifies.
· Meets independently with vendors.
· Identifies opportunities for process improvement.
· Recruits, hires, and develops assistant-designer level, provides inspiration and motivation.
· Expert design and conceptual skills
· Ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas / new concepts; ability to conceptually visualize and build a line
· Excellent sense of style and color
· In-depth knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color ways, sewing techniques, graphics and trim
· Excellent organizational, time management and presentation skills.
· Strong leadership skills.
· College degree in Fashion Design or related field.
· 5-8 years design experience.
· 3-5 years experience as a manager.
