Job Title:
Apparel Design Intern - 2010
As a Design intern you will have the opportunity to work within the Product Development Design Office. Primary responsibilities include:
· Learning Kohl’s culture and market position
· Understanding the Product Development process as it relates to design
· Following the entire design process, from concept to finished product
· Observing the Design team as they collaborate with color, trend, cad artists, buying office, and other designers to create a private brand merchandise assortment
· Incorporating marketplace factors into the merchandise line
· Using competitive shopping as a tool to analyze trends, pricing and assortments of various retailers
· Working with industry standard tools, such as Web PDM and Adobe Illustrator
· Accessing industry information regarding trend forecasting and product design
· Working with a designer to be involved with their day to day activities
· Developing a final project by researching a specific area or opportunity within the Design department
· Presenting final project to members of your department
Required Qualifications:
· Anticipated graduation date between May 2010 – Aug 2011
· Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a design related field
· Must be able to work full time between the dates of June 1st, 2010—August 6th, 2010
· Authorization to work in the U.S without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
· Minimum GPA of 3.0
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Demonstrated leadership and team work skills
· Strong analytical skills
· Experience with Adobe Illustrator
· Creative and innovative
· Interest in the retail and apparel design industry
· Desire to relocate to Wisconsin upon successful completion of internship
