Job Title:

Art Apparel Intern - 2010


·         Learn Kohl’s culture and market position
·         Understand the art apparel process as it relates to Product Development
·         Assist in creating and manipulating prints, yarns-dyes & placed graphics
·         Assist lead textile designer in setting up art concept boards
·         Start and maintain computer archive of prints seasonally
·         Help match and maintain seasonal color palettes
·         Use competitive shopping as a tool to analyze trends and assortments of various retailers
·         Work with industry standard tools, such as Web PDM and Adobe Illustrator
·         Follow the entire art apparel process, from concept to finished product
·         Observe the art apparel design team as they collaborate with color, trend, cad artists, buying office, and other designers to create a private brand merchandise assortment
·         Participate in research & development of seasonal trends, themes, concepts, & color
·         Create original graphic art from the Lead Graphic Artist and Designer concept direction
·         Prepare quality/accurate information for graphic placement and execution of artwork to the vendor for production
·         Meet productivity guidelines according to the Graphic Manager productivity per season
·         Develop an understanding of business and assortment strategies
·         Interact and develops relationships with Technical Designers, Buyers, and the Color department to exchange processes, leverage expertise, and streamline processes
·         Develop and present a final project by researching a specific area or opportunity within the apparel art design department
Required Qualifications:
·         Anticipated graduation date between May 2010 – Aug 2011
·         Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a design related field
·        Must be able to work full time between the dates of June 1st, 2010—August 6th, 2010
·         Authorization to work in the U.S without sponsorship
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·         Minimum GPA of 3.0
·         BA in Graphic Design, or related field with a
·         Interest in the retail and apparel design industry
·         Desire to relocate to Wisconsin upon successful completion of internship
·         Strong computer skills with knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, & Photoshop
·         Strong artistic background including the ability to create conceptual and final art in several different mediums
·         Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail
